The Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West offers a schedule of ever-changing professional learning opportunities open to all educators. Please check back often as new topics and session are added often. Click on each image below to find out about our current sessions. If you're interested in a topic that isn't listed below, you can always request a professional development session for your building or district by clicking on and filling out this form: District or Building PD Request Form. As a reminder, these customized services are free for our PD member districts (Maumee, Perrysburg, Rossford, Springfield, Sylvania, and Washington Local) and may be purchased by another district for a fee, viewable here on our Non-Consulting Services Aligned Districts Fee Schedule.

March Professional Learning Opportunities

SIOP Train-the-Trainer
Join us for this 4-day virtual Train-the-Trainer event. The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model is a evidence-based framework for lesson design and delivery, proven to effectively meet the academic needs of multilingual learners. These workshops emphasizes strategies and techniques for providing job-embedded support, including coaching, to enhance teachers' effectiveness in implementing the SIOP Model.

Virtual STEM Info Series
Join these monthly virtual sessions to keep a pulse on relevant and helpful STEM topics. This month, we will look at finding authentic audiences.

CPI Full Training Foundation Course
This training provides your staff with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations that may involve more challenging behaviors.

Expanding Expressions Tool (EET) Virtual Training
The Expanding Expressions Tool is a multisensory ELA tool designed to help students develop a system for spoken and written language. Tool creator Sara Smith will join us virtually as we learn how this tool can help students from preschool to grade 12 with oral language expression, written language expression, vocabulary, and comprehension.

High Impact Tutoring Consultancy Series
This 2 day workshop offers a step-by-step guide to launching a tutoring program in your school or district.

Join us as we share restorative practice strategies and techniques, designed to effectively support your discipline process.

 NWO STEM Collaborative at the Toledo Museum of Art
This session will provide educators with tools and teaching strategies to enhance art across the curriculum through meaningful connections, creative thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. All workshops include gallery activities, a hands-on art experience, and teaching resource materials for educators to take home.

May Professional Learning Opportunities

Resident Educator Mentor Training
VIRTUAL
New mentors to the Resident Educator Program are required to successfully complete the 12-hour Mentor Academy Training to receive state mentor certification. This training will be done on your own time during the week of May 4 - 11 with two required Zoom sessions.

August Professional Learning Opportunities

Teacher CAMP
During this week-long, immersive experience for teachers of grades 3-12, participants will explore in-demand occupations by visiting and meeting with local business and industry partners. Teachers will develop authentic curriculum-connected activities to take back to the classroom. A professional learning community and shared resources will provide additional support throughout the school year.
