Growing Food in Space
Did you know that astronauts have been growing food in space since the 1980s? Astronauts today rely on hydroponics to grow food in space. Preschool age children and their special adult are invited to Challenger to come be astronauts with us while we grow lettuce using our hydroponics system!
Program Details:
Location: Challenger Learning Center
Age: Preschool (3-5 years old) & an accompanying adult
Cost: $100 per child for a five-week session
Duration: Five weeks
Dates: November 22, December 6, December 13, December 20, & January 3
Times: 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Search and Rescue Robotics Challenge
Join the mission! Set in a post-natural-disaster scenario, this challenge will task teams with up to five potential problems (each more complex than the last) facing first responders. Teams will be tasked with designing solutions to each of the assigned problems using a programmable robotic ball to simulate an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) entering a disaster zone.
Program Details:
Location: Challenger Learning Center
Grade Level: 5th – 8th grade
Cost: $150 per child for a six-week session
Duration: Six weeks and a Saturday Showcase
Session Dates: December 4, December 11, December 18, January 8, January 15, & January 22
Session Time:4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Showcase Saturday: January 25 @ 11:00 am
