IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT SCHOOL BREAKFAST AND LUNCH FOR THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR

School Meals Are No Longer Free for All Families. The waivers provided by the USDA to offer school meals for free to all students during the COVID-19 pandemic have expired. All schools have returned to regularly priced meals.

Paying for School Breakfast and Lunch:  Payments are accepted online only at this time. You will select how many meals you wish to pay for and you will have to enter your child’s name. Secure online payments can be made here: https://www.locallevelevents.com/events/details/28858

Free and Reduced Meal Program: Families who feel they need help paying for school meals may qualify for assistance through the Free and Reduced Meal Program. Eligibility is based on household size and income levels. Families who qualify to receive free meals also are eligible for free or reduced school fees at registration.

Applying for the Free & Reduced Meal Program: Families are encouraged to complete the application before October 1. Eligibility information and applications are available through the link on the right and in the school office.  Click on "2023-24 Lunch Application and Information" (under Lunch Forms on the right) to access the application.

Meal Program

The Alternate Learning Center participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program (NSBL). The types of meals provided by the school meal program encompass standards as defined by the Dietary Guidelines. All meals are provided through an outside vendor and are planned following the standards of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. Students order lunch through their homeroom teacher and, when applicable, the families are billed through the ESC of Lake Erie West Treasurer's office.

Free and reduced-price lunches are available to students who qualify and meet the eligibility guidelines. Applications are available through the website, the main office or you can place a request to have one sent home.

Applications are accepted at any time during the school year. Families who have any change in employment or income during the school year may apply for benefits. At no time is any child discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age, or handicap. Please note that the student will be charged full price for meals if the school does not have a current application on file. Students who qualified last school year are automatically qualified for the first 30 days of the school year. However, a new application must be completed for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year within 30 days from the start of the school year for the child to continue on the program. Please contact the main office if you have any questions.
