PBIS

Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a system that encourages a school-wide approach to preventing and responding to school discipline problems. PBIS develops school-wide systems that staff uses to teach and promote appropriate behavior in all students. PBIS has been incorporated into the ALC program in order to establish a safe and positive school environment for your child. At the ALC there are three major components to this system throughout the school year - BE RESPECTFUL, BE RESPONSIBLE, and BE SAFE. These themes will be carried out in all areas and grades of the school and will be posted throughout the school on our school-wide matrix (see below).

Students will be instructed on the major components of the PBIS school-wide system through activities, lessons, demonstrations, videos, and role-playing. Our school-wide goal is to have all students implement the PBIS components on a daily basis creating a truly positive learning environment.

Bullying

Harassment, intimidation, or bullying behavior by any student and/or school personnel at the ALC is strictly prohibited, and such conduct may result in disciplinary action. All students, administrators, teachers, staff, and all other school personnel share responsibility for avoiding, discouraging, and reporting any form of unlawful harassment.

If students witness, or are victim to, what they believe to be an incidence of harassment, intimidation, or bullying, the Bullying Reporting Form can be completed and submitted to Mrs. Theiss. The incident will be investigated by the Leadership Team who will determine if the incident constitutes bullying.
